After a great season of snowboarding and summer weather right around the corner the Ontario Wakeboard Committee is excited to announce the dates for the 2011 Roots Wakeboard and Wakeskate Series. This year multiple new sponsors have jumped on board in support of this fun-focused volunteer based event series, and we have lots of great plans in the mix.
The series will encompass 3 stops of two day events across Ontario. Each stop will commence with the Roots series contest on Saturday and follow up with the demo day on Sunday.
The Roots Wakeboard and Wakeskate Contest invites riders of all ages and abilities to come out, test their skills and walk away with some great prizing from all of our sponsors. The day will showcase some of the best riding in Canada, as well as plenty of on-shore activities for everyone of all ages. Roots categories will include the Newbie 12& Under division for first time competitors, Boys and Girls Beginner, Intermediate, Outlaw and Veteran Wakeboard, Amateur, Girls and Outlaw Wakeskate. All participants must have a 2011 Waterski-Wakeboard Ontario membership that can be purchased online at www.wswo.ca. Online registration will be posted online at www.rootswakeboarding.com.
Each Sunday we will host a demo day which encompasses board and boat demos, a meet and greet with the top pros in Ontario, a chance to visit some of the booths on-site and partake in activities throughout the day. The demo day gives riders a chance to get tips from the top outlaw riders, as well as test out the 2011 decks from Ronix, Hyperlite, Byerly, Liquid Force and O'Brien. It also provides an opportunity for everyone from first timers to veterans to get out on the water and try the sport, as well as demo the wake behind the newest in towboat technology from Malibu, Mastercraft and Nautique.

Ontario Wake Awards:
On Friday May 27th we are hosting the first annual Wake Awards at the Red Bull Offices in Toronto. The event is an exclusive Black Tie, industry focused fundraiser for the Roots Wakeboard and Wakeskate Series as well as for sport development initiatives in Ontario. We will be awarding the top riders and key industry players, photos will be on display for the SBC photographer's showcase, all followed by the appetizers and drinks. All ages are welcome. We are currently looking for some unique Silent Auction donations for the event, everything is appreciated! Also - If you are interested in purchasing tickets please let me know as soon as possible so I can set some aside. Tickets are $25 and can only be purchased by an Ontario Wake Committee member.
