Statement from Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OTTAWA -- Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada has been informed that Aaron Rathy has been disqualified from the 2011 Pan American Games wakeboard competition after testing positive for the banned stimulant Methylhexaneamine (METH-AL-HEX-A-NEA-MIN). Aaron and Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada have cooperated fully with the investigation and will accept the findings of the Pan American Sport Organization Disciplinary Committee. Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada is fulfilling its responsibility to uphold the World Anti-Doping Agency code as well as the athlete's right to a fair hearing.

Statement from Aarton Rathy:

"I'd like to apologize to the Canadian Olympic Committee and Coaching Staff, I am deeply sorry, and was completely un-aware of the banned substance in the OxyElite Pro I had taken. I purchased the product at a GNC health food store, and to my knowledge was all safe to take. It was a privilege to compete for Team Canada at the Pan-Am Games and it was never my intention to cause any damage or inconvenience."
