Summer Staff: Waterskiing Instructor

Camp Oochigeas is a privately funded, volunteer based organization that provides children with cancer and children affected by childhood cancer with a unique opportunity for growth through challenging, fun, enriching and magical experiences.

Oochigeas is a volunteer based program and the following position is one of a small team of all-summer paid staff. In addition to facilitating the designated program area, it is the responsibility of the summer staff to actively support and provide resources to over 400 volunteers throughout the summer.

Chosen applicants will work with co-instructors and sessional volunteers to provide our campers with a valuable adventure experience.

Position Specific Responsibilities include:

·       Managing all risk and ensuring the operation of a safe program

·       Supervising, directing and overseeing the instruction and experience of all participants (campers and staff)

·       Facilitating and Instructing waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing

·       Supporting sessional co-instructors, the care and use of the Camp’s ski boat.

Volunteer Support Responsibilities Include:

·       Assisting in facilitation of on-site volunteer trainings

·       Assist in planning, prepping, and execution of volunteer based programs

·       Training and supporting volunteers in the activity areas

·       Perform evening duties to support cabin counsellor teams

 Qualifications:

·       Holds a valid Pleasure Craft Operators License, and has experience with towing someone behind a boat

·       Hold a Bronze Cross Lifeguarding Certification, NLS preferred (or equivalent)

·       Is an experienced and confident driver who holds a valid Driver’s License.

·       Current CWSIC Instructors Course Certification (preferable). Training will be provided to right applicant.

 Dates:

·       Site specific Waterski training runs during the weekend of June 18th- 19th

·       Contract runs from June 25th to September 4th

 
All members of the summer staff team must be at least 19 years of age. This is a paid residential summer contract position at our site near Rosseau, Ontario. All hires will be contingent on positive references, a police check with vulnerable sector and a medical screening.
