2015 Barefoot Season Update

Early Notice - from Steve Keating:

We were scheduled to run this year’s Grand River Barefoot Endurance Race on our usual date - the last weekend of the summer, Saturday September 19th.  However, a Show Ski Reunion is slated for the same weekend, running Sept 18th-20th at Clevelands House Resort.  If you would like more info on this, emails can be sent to Reunion@summerwatersports.com

I know we have several show skiers/barefooters who enjoy the annual Endurance Race each year and I feel that they should not have to decide which event to attend. Hopefully this date works for most skiers but this is your Race – so please let me know if this is a conflict for you or your team.  Every effort will be made to accommodate as many skiers as possible. Further details will be sent out as the weather improves, but for now circle your calendars -- Sept. 12th to Rattle the River!!

Other Ontario/Canadian Barefoot events:
The Canadian National Barefoot Water-ski Championships are headed to the Canal Soulanges, in Les Cedres, QC on Aug. 6th - 9th. Further details will be forthcoming but Daniel Lariviere is heading up this event this year and can be contacted at danieljrlariviere@yahoo.ca

The Ice Breaker: The Ontario Barefoot Council is willing to bring back the spring “Ice Breaker” this year ONLY if interest is shown!  At this point in time the date and location are T.B.A.  It will however likely be sometime in Mid- June. This is for anyone interested in Barefoot Water Skiing, from the Seasoned Tournament Veteran to someone who wants to learn for the first time.
Do you want to learn a trick, learn to drive for barefoot water skiing or learn how to Judge? Tell us what your goals are and we will help you get there.  If you are considering entering your first sanctioned event, this is an excellent opportunity to get some friendly pointers from recognized Ontario judges and World Ranked Barefooters.  Everyone with an interest in Barefooting is welcome, no matter your ability!
Space will be limited to ensure everyone gets all the water time they desire; cost will be at an absolute minimum and lunch will be provided!  Please contact myself (Steve Keating) at skeating@keatinghomes.ca or (519) 846-5545 OR Mike Spence at Mikes@bc-instruments.com to register or for more details.  Again – if no interest is shown this event will not go forward.

Barefoot Officials Clinic the end of MARCH  WSWC will be hosting a barefoot officials clinic on March 28th, 2015 in downtown Toronto, Ontario. The purpose of this one day clinic is to train new officials for the barefoot discipline, as well as educate skiers on tournament rules.  It will be an interactive day with lots of information, videos, and discussions. This is a great opportunity for skiers to learn what judges are looking for in their runs, as well as show new officials the processes and procedures of officiating a tournament. Lunch will be provided.
